What is Nypunyam?

Nypunyam is an initiative to identify industry partners and forge alliances with the public and private sectors in enhancing the quality standards of Kerala's trade industry and making people employment ready by improving the relevance of skills taught, quality of skills training and numbers.

The Nypunyam Initiative, will focus towards bringing together investors, industry, trainer institutions, trainers, policy makers, policy implementers, academicians, thinkers and the youth from across Kerala, India and the World to develop a plan that would identify and carry forward skills development regime in Kerala. The Summit will be part of ongoing new initiatives undertaken by the Government of Kerala in setting up of international skill institutes in the domains of Construction, Security, Nursing, Automobile, Retail, Tourism, Hospitality and in other skills. The event is also envisaged to bridge the gap between real industry requirements and skilled workforce, with a focus on improving the quality standards of ITIs' and making people employment ready. The event is also poised to bring together an august attendee list including top global industry leaders and heads, key government officials, policy makers, analysts and the media.

The Summit will also see signing of MoUs between Industry Stakeholders and the ITIs, collaborating and contributing jointly to formulate better training methodologies and introducing latest advancements for market ready skill building. It will also explore setting up of Centres of Excellence (CoEs), as a Private-Government initiative.

To kick start the revolutionary event, a series of Road-Shows will follow with the Nypunyam Summit on January 20th & 21st, 2014 at The Leela Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram.


To create large numbers of ready to employ skilled personnel with very high Employability Quotient (EPQ) linked to placements.

To bridge the gap between industry requirements and skilled workforce by engaging top quality investors, international and national business and industrial houses and enterprises on board.

Granting of Administrative Sanction and signing MoUs for Skill Development Projects submitted by Interested Entities that would lead to:
  1. Quality up-gradation of training institutions, trainers, curriculum
  2. Promote training in relevant and cutting edge niche skills,
  3. Contributes to an exponential increase in numbers of certified skilled personnel linked to assured placements.

    Through Industrial Tie-ups and new ITIs and adoption of existing ITIs, the setting up of Centres of Excellence in identified sectors, as per the Invitation for Expression of Interest published in the Nypunyam Website
    Through other feasible and viable Skill Development Models

Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence

The Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) is a non-profit venture of the Kerala Government set up under the tutelage of the Department of Labour and Rehabilitation for grooming employable professionals in the domains of construction, nursing, security, automotive and such other realms.
